SodaMelt calcium: the one ingredient with an amount of its own
SodaMelt calcium is the only ingredient on the panel with a milligram figure of its own. Everything else sits inside one shared blend. This page reads the calcium row closely, explains why the label asks for the capsule before a meal, and covers the one medicine timing rule it creates.
SodaMelt calcium is 100 mg of calcium as calcium carbonate per capsule, printed as 7.5% of the Daily Value. It is the only ingredient with its own declared amount. Calcium carbonate needs stomach acid, which is part of why the capsule goes 20 to 30 minutes before a meal. If you take levothyroxine, keep four hours between the two.

- Calcium (as calcium carbonate) is 100 mg per capsule, printed as 7.5% of the Daily Value.
- It is the only ingredient on the panel with a figure of its own.
- The 250 mg blend, with eleven entries, has its Daily Value not established.
- Calcium carbonate needs stomach acid to dissolve, part of the reason for the meal window.
- The human trial showing calcium carbonate lowers levothyroxine absorption used 1,200 mg of calcium a day.
- Keep four hours between this capsule and levothyroxine.
SodaMelt is a dietary supplement. It is not a drug and it is not FDA approved, and no supplement is. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. For a medical question, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
What does the SodaMelt calcium row say?
The Supplement Facts panel prints a serving size of one capsule and 30 servings per container. Below that are two rows with amounts. The first is calcium (as calcium carbonate), 100 mg, 7.5% of the Daily Value. The second is the proprietary blend, 250 mg, with a footnote that a Daily Value is not established.
That makes calcium the only ingredient a reader can weigh. The Daily Value figure is printed, and we reproduce it as printed. We cannot confirm it against the federal database, which answers scripted requests with an error, so we quote it and do not recalculate it. Eleven botanicals share the other 250 mg with no individual figures.
Is the SodaMelt calcium amount large or small?
Small. A large glass of milk is in the same region. At 100 mg this is a modest nutritional line, not a supplement-level dose of calcium. It would not replace a calcium supplement if you have been told to take one. If you do take another calcium product, count this capsule in your daily total.
One bottle holds 30 capsules, so a month at one a day adds up to 30 times 100 mg. We do not turn that into a bone or health claim, because the seller makes none and no structure or function claim is printed on the carton.

Why is calcium carbonate in SodaMelt at all?
The pages do not give the formulator's reason, so we do not guess at it. What they do say is how the salt behaves. Calcium carbonate is the cheapest and densest calcium salt, and it needs stomach acid to dissolve. That is part of why the label asks for the capsule 20 to 30 minutes before a meal, not after one. A comparison of calcium formulations sets out how the salts differ.
Inside the capsule, the calcium also helps with volume. A 250 mg blend plus 100 mg of calcium carbonate is a small amount of powder for a capsule that size, and rice flour makes up the rest. That is normal formulating.
What is the SodaMelt calcium and levothyroxine rule?
Calcium carbonate binds levothyroxine in the gut and reduces how much of it is absorbed. The trial that established this gave 1,200 mg of calcium a day alongside the thyroid tablet for three months. This capsule carries 100 mg, a twelfth of that.
| Detail | Figure |
|---|---|
| Calcium in the human absorption trial | 1,200 mg a day |
| Calcium in one SodaMelt capsule | 100 mg |
| Spacing the thyroid literature advises | Four hours apart |
The standard spacing applies anyway, because it costs nothing.
It is a scheduling instruction, not a warning. Put the thyroid tablet in one slot and the capsule in another, and ask your pharmacist how to arrange the day.
How does the SodaMelt calcium row compare with the blend row?
They are two different kinds of disclosure. The calcium row is a full one: an ingredient, a form, an amount and a percentage. The blend row declares the total weight, the ingredients by common name and plant part, and the order, which under 21 CFR 101.36 is descending by weight. It leaves out how the 250 mg is divided and the culture count.
So when someone asks for the active amounts in SodaMelt, the honest answer is short. One amount is stated for one ingredient, and one total is stated for eleven. Our page on what 250 mg shared between eleven means works through the blend.
How can you check the SodaMelt calcium row on your bottle?
- Find the serving size: 1 capsule, with 30 servings per container.
- Read the first amount row: calcium (as calcium carbonate), 100 mg, 7.5% Daily Value.
- Read the second: proprietary blend, 250 mg, with the footnote that a Daily Value is not established.
- Look under the panel for the other ingredients: rice flour, hypromellose, magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide.
- Compare your bottle with the artwork on our supplement facts page.
Which sources does this page use?
- The panel transcription on the supplement facts page.
- Singh and colleagues' study of calcium carbonate and levothyroxine, and a systematic review of levothyroxine interactions, both cited there.
Frequently asked questions
How much calcium is in SodaMelt?
100 mg per capsule, as calcium carbonate, printed as 7.5% of the Daily Value.
Is the calcium the only amount on the SodaMelt label?
Yes. The blend prints one total of 250 mg for eleven entries, with no individual figures.
Can I take SodaMelt with levothyroxine?
Keep four hours between them, and ask your pharmacist how to arrange the day.
Does SodaMelt replace a calcium supplement?
No. 100 mg is a modest amount. If you take another calcium product, count this one in the total.

Our view
SodaMelt calcium is the one number on the label you can hold in your hand, and it is a small one. It matters mostly because of the thyroid timing rule and because it shows how the rest of the panel is built: one amount for one ingredient, one total for eleven. Read the whole panel on the SodaMelt official website, and ask a doctor or pharmacist about timing if you take levothyroxine.

Plan the day around the thyroid tablet
If calcium timing is the only question, order through the official button and ask your pharmacist about spacing.
